University of Birmingham UCU members are strongly encouraged to vote for James Brackley for UCU Treasurer in the current round of UCU national officer elections (closing 1 March).
James Brackley has been a tireless campaigner for our branch over the last decade. He has been branch president, branch secretary and a constant source of support through his casework.
James is a chartered accountant and a lecturer in critical accounting. He is committed to bringing this expertise to the role of UCU Treasurer and making sure we neither underspend nor overspend in planning our union campaigns.
This is a crucial issue. The finances of the union have a major impact on how much we can access the strike funds and James has forensically shown how we have systematically been too prudent with spending over the past decade – saving £3 million per year on average whilst the strike fund is capped at 11 days per round of strike action. We need a better approach to the union finances, and we are certain we can rely on James Brackley to deliver that.
Vote James Brackley for Treasurer.
