UCU Strike Ballot – Our Means

The strike ballot is over a proposed series of strikes, designed to cause maximum disruption with minimum lost pay. This is to protect higher education and staff and students’ long-term interests. The intention would be to take one half-daystrike per fortnight, moving to  one halfday strike per week after six weeks, until we reach a resolution. The half day strikes would be on a rotating College-by -College basis, meaning that the University would face disruption to its teaching timetable for an entire week (every fortnight) with staff losing only one half day’s pay. A reasonable employer would seek to avoid this disruption, and reach a resolution that is fair and in the interests of staff, students and quality higher education.
